Behind the Scenes: Designing a Calm Notion Dashboard

How I chose colors, fonts, and layouts that feel like a deep breath.

When I set out to create Luna’s first template, I knew I wanted something that didn’t scream “get things done.” Instead, I wanted a space that whispered “you’ve got this.”

I started with a palette of muted pastels—blush, sage, lavender—and a single sans-serif font. Every block got generous white space. I tested the layout with friends who hate productivity tools, and they told me it felt “like a hug.”

The secret? I removed all the default Notion clutter. No progress bars, no red deadlines. Just simple lists and toggles that let you focus on what matters. If a feature caused stress, I cut it. The result is a dashboard that actually invites you to open it.
